About
Beril Birbudak — Founder · Lighting Designer
An independent studio for lighting design, B2LD Studio works across residential, retail, hospitality and cultural projects. Its conviction is simple: light is not an afterthought to architecture but the material that decides how a space is felt — its depth, its warmth, its sense of occasion.
Beril Birbudak comes to light through space. Trained as an interior architect and holding a master’s in Lighting Design from Politecnico di Milano, she designs with both disciplines in the same hand — the room and its light conceived together, never one after the other.
Her practice has been shaped by working in many cities: interior and lighting design in Milan and London, and years as a lighting designer with George Sexton Associates in New York — contributing to high-end national and international projects. Today she leads B2LD Studio from Türkiye, working worldwide.
How We Work
- 01
Audit
A review of the full package before design begins — scope matrix, missing-information list, schedule and budget briefing, so everyone starts from the same picture.
- 02
Concept
The lighting direction takes shape — typology, key visuals and the first thinking on controls that will define how the space feels.
- 03
Schematic Design (SD)
Design intent aligned with the wider team; the BIM workflow is set up, preliminary layouts drawn and the controls approach established.
- 04
Design Development (DD)
Layouts developed in detail — fixtures placed in Revit, calculations run and the scheme coordinated with every discipline.
- 05
Issued for Construction (IFC)
Full documentation: drawings, schedules and engineer-reviewed specifications, with controls finalized under QA/QC.
- 06
Site Support & Focusing
Optional oversight on site — aiming and fine-tuning each fixture until the built scheme matches the design intent.
